Every year, the EDHEC Global MBA programme participants have the privilege of attending the Accounting course taught by Professor Joseph Fisher, PhD. Widely regarded by past and present Global MBA participants as one of their favorites, Professor Fisher, has the unusual ability to make accounting easy and interesting.
Professor Fisher, is a visiting professor at EDHEC. He comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Formerly a faculty member at the Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College, and at the University of Arizona, Professor Fisher is a current KPMG Peat Marwick Fellow and Associate Professor of Accounting at Indiana University.
Among other things, he is also on the editorial board of the Accounting Review, the Journal of Management Accounting Research and Behavioral Research in Accounting.
Along with being an expert in his field, Professor Fisher is very adept at making the complicated seem simple.
During the intensive two-week course in Accounting, Professor Fisher guides the Global MBA programme participants through the muddy waters of financial and managerial accounting in a very clear way. He focuses on interesting case studies of the financial statements of current companies and provides the EDHEC Global MBA participants with invaluable tools to assess the financial situation of companies.
Professor Fisher is also a very personable professor. He continues to send correspondences of interesting developments within the field of Accounting to the Global MBA participants. Moreover, he is an enthusiastic hiker who most recently hiked the hills around Cap Ferrat and regaled the Global MBA programme participants about his adventures.
The Global MBA students very much enjoyed their time with Professor Fisher and hope that he continues to be a visiting professor at the EDHEC Global MBA programme.
